Initiatives
The KE Inclusive Workplace Committee seeks a shared sense of belonging, psychological safety, and support across the Knowledge Enterprise.
Our priorities are:
- Continuous reflection and improvement of inclusivity and belonging within KE by implementing inclusive practices and principles.
- Advancing equity through proactive measures, ensuring equal opportunities for all employees.
- Creating and furthering a culture of open dialogue and ongoing engagement, making KE a model for inclusivity and belonging at ASU.
Our initial steps towards these priorities are reflected in the following initiatives:
Initiative 1: Culture Change
Cultivate a culture of well-being and psychological safety for all employees by fostering effective communication and equitable development opportunities through:
- Ensuring the psychological safely and well-being of all KE employees.
- Improving communication between leadership and employees at all levels of KE.
- Securing equitable and relevant opportunities for staff growth and development.
Initiative 2: HR Partnership
Partner with KE People Operations to advise on and advocate for more inclusive employee policies by:
- Making recommendations that promote hiring and retention of employees with a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.
- Advocating for pay equity.
- Assisting in the creation and access of improved tools and resources for employees.
Initiative 3: Awareness of the Committee, Empowerment of Staff
Improve awareness, visibility, and representation through special programs, outreach, and collaboration with the intention to become a model leader of inclusion at ASU by:
- Increasing visibility of the KE Inclusive Workplace Committee and other related initiatives across KE units.
- Engaging in outreach and collaboration with other inclusive organizations across ASU.
- Demonstrating model leadership in inclusion by living the ASU Charter.
Featured Inclusive Workplace Committee project:
‘Inclusive Workplace Ambassador’ Program
Co-creating a work environment where everyone feels safe to take risks, share ideas, and voice concerns is crucial for an organization’s success.
In Spring 2024 the KE Inclusive Workplace Committee, alongside Insight Global, an external consulting firm with expertise in workplace inclusion practices, launched a research-based Inclusive Workplace Ambassador program to support the inclusive development of KE employees.
Through a combination of interactive exercises, group discussions, and ASU-specific examples, our Ambassadors are furthering their knowledge and building tools necessary to lead the Knowledge Enterprise’s efforts to create and further a psychologically safe culture, where employees can be themselves, share thoughts and ideas, and take risks in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Data is being tracked from the start of the program to determine baseline perspectives of psychological safety, and will be taken again at the end of the pilot to determine growth and inform next steps for improving the culture of psychological safety at KE.
The Inclusive Workplace Ambassador program will support personal employee development and also contribute to building safer, stronger, more innovative and more productive teams.
